Individualized Education

Promise Academy Logo FInal COLORv2-ol[8]

Education is one of the most critical parts of any child’s life and helps frame their future opportunities. It is also directly impacted by a young person’s mental and behavioral health. When youth come to the Residential Center for Healing & Resilience, education and therapy go hand-in-hand at our on-site, year-round charter school.

Promise Academy is a state-accredited charter school on the Hands of Promise Campus. It offers six classrooms designed to meet the unique educational challenges of youth living at the Residential Center for Healing & Resilience.

Using a skills-based curriculum, each student will have an Individualized Learning Plan (ILP). This allows students to focus on building skills in areas where they struggle, while building on skills in areas where they thrive.

In addition to an individualized curriculum, the school building is Connected to the Therapy and Wellness Center. Our teachers and therapists work together to help young people meet their therapeutic and educational goals. Both our therapists and our teachers are specially trained to respond to each youth’s mental and emotional needs.

At Promise Academy, we will work with you, your student, and their local school to help them continue their education, while preparing them to successfully return to their home school.

The goal

We assist youth in reaching a level of mental health where residential care is no longer necessary. Youth achieve this through the development of communication skills, emotional regulation, education, self-esteem, and trauma resolution.

We do this by helping you and your child:

  • Begin the process of resolving trauma or emotional challenges.

  • Discover effective ways to communicate their needs, emotions, and boundaries.

  • Strengthen their education, building on existing knowledge and filling any gaps.

  • Nurture their natural strengths and aptitudes to boost self-esteem.

  • Develop a positive sense of self-worth and hopefulness about the future.

  • Strengthen the internal family dynamics for a stronger, more cohesive family unit.
