Lindy Gastineau
Adoption Program Supervisor, Coeur d'Alene
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Idaho in 2012 and will complete my Master of Social Work from Eastern Washington University in June. My professional journey has been grounded in supporting children, youth, and families across education, developmental disabilities, foster care, and adoption systems.
I began my career as a Behavior Interventionist with the Post Falls School District (2011–2013) and later with the Coeur d’Alene School District (2013–2015), where I supported students with behavioral and developmental needs in educational settings. In 2016, I transitioned to the State of Washington’s Developmental Disabilities Administration, serving as a Case Manager until 2018. In that role, I partnered with individuals and families to coordinate services, advocate for resources, and promote stability and long-term support planning.
In 2018, after becoming a foster parent, I felt called to shift my professional focus to child welfare. I joined the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) as an Adoption Specialist, supporting permanency planning and guiding families through the adoption process. I have since transitioned into the role of Kinship Licensor, where I work closely with relative and kinship caregivers to ensure safe, stable placements for children in care.
In 2025, I began working with Idaho Youth Ranch in adoptions, continuing my commitment to permanency and strengthening families across systems. My work is driven by a deep belief in the importance of stability, trauma-informed practice, and supporting caregivers who step forward to care for children.
