COVID Protocols for Programs Locations (Effective Dec. 3, 2022)

Date: Dec. 2, 2022
To: All Idaho Youth Ranch Employees
From: Camille Andersen, Chief People Officer
==============================================================================

Dear Idaho Youth Ranch Colleagues,

This continues our weekly communication about COVID protocols in Programs locations based on CDC’s guidance for healthcare settings.  If you have any questions, please ask your supervisor or HR.

All Programs locations remain in Contingency Standards.

For Anchor House, Emerald and HOP: see clarified masking requirements below.

Recommendation: Conduct your self-screen for COVID symptoms before heading into work (Fever or chills, Cough, Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, Fatigue, Muscle or body aches, Headache, New loss of taste or smell, Sore throat, Congestion or runny nose, Nausea or vomiting, Diarrhea)

To be “up to date” on vaccinations, you MUST have the updated (bivalent) booster.  If you have questions about what it takes to be cleared by HR, please refer to the IYR Employee Portal.

Updated (bivalent) boosters became available for people ages 12 and older over Labor Day weekend. The updated (bivalent) boosters are called “bivalent” because they protect against both the original virus that causes COVID-19 and the Omicron variant BA.4 and BA.5.  You are considered up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines if you have completed a COVID-19 vaccine primary series and received the most recent booster dose recommended for you by CDC.  PLEASE NOTIFY HR IF YOU HAVE RECEIVED THE BOOSTER TO KEEP YOUR STATUS UP-TO-DATE.

We have also had several situations of people NOT notifying HR if they have tested positive for COVID or been exposed.  Please remember to still notify HR@youthranch.org if you have any symptoms or if you have been exposed.  Please refer to COVID guidelines on the IYR Employee Portal.

In addition, in areas where instances of the flu is HIGH, it is RECOMMENDED to wear masks when in close contact with other staff / clients / customers to minimize the spread of the infection.  This is recommended only.

Hands of Promise

The “Transmission level” in all three service counties remains High per the CDC. Therefore, our Outpatient Contingency  Standards and the following requirements apply:

Self-screening for employees and volunteers

  • When first reporting to work or entering the property, you must complete a self-screen for fever, COVID symptoms, and Close Contacts* and enter the results of your self-screen in the logbook provided.
  • If you screen positive on any aspect, you must immediately leave the premises, inform your supervisor, and await further instructions from HR.
  • If you leave the property, return the same day and experience a Close Contact* while away, inform your supervisor and do not return to the property until cleared by HR.

Masking and distancing for employees and volunteers: Medical facemasks are required indoors unless you have been cleared by HR to work without a mask or you are alone within an enclosed room with the door closed. The HOP Arena is considered outdoors for purpose of this protocol. Physical distancing is recommended at all times.

* Close contact means being less than 6 feet away from someone with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 for a cumulative period of 15 minutes or more within a 24-hour period. This applies indoors and outdoors and regardless of the masking or vaccination status of either person.

Hays House

The “Transmission level” for Ada County remains High per the CDC. Because of this, Hays’ Contingency  Standards and the following requirements apply:

Masking for Residents: Medical Facemask provided daily, recommended but not required indoors; Facemask required in youth transport.

Masking for Staff/Visitors: N95 or KN95 mask required indoors and in youth transport.

Screening: All Staff and Visitors must be screened for symptoms and exposures when first entering the residence. Residents must be screened upon admission and twice daily.

Work Restrictions: If staff screen positive for symptoms with no known exposure or confirmed positive test, they may return to work after testing negative with rapid viral testing according to manufacturer instructions.

NOTE: some manufacturers instruct using 2 tests 24-48 hours apart to consider a negative test to be valid. If staff does not get tested, the IYR return to work rules for non-programs staff apply.
