Outpatient Therapist

Do your best clinical work. Backed by a mission that means it.

Outpatient therapy at Idaho Youth Ranch is structured, substantive, and sustainable. You’ll carry a caseload of 20–25 clients across our Boise and Coeur d’Alene locations, working with youth and families using evidence-based approaches tailored to each person’s needs.

What you won’t find here: the isolation of private practice, the throughput pressure of a large agency, or a culture that treats documentation time as a luxury. What you will find is a team that takes the work seriously, and takes care of the people doing it.

The work, honestly described

As an outpatient therapist at Idaho Youth Ranch, you’ll provide individual, group, and family therapy to youth and families navigating a range of challenges: trauma histories, anxiety and depression, behavioral health concerns, family conflict, and more. The population is complex and the work is demanding, but the structure around you is designed to make that work sustainable.

You’ll draw from a toolkit of evidence-based modalities including TF-CBT, DBT, EMDR, and CBT, applied with clinical judgment and adapted to each client’s needs and readiness. Idaho Youth Ranch doesn’t prescribe a one-size approach; you’ll have room to practice with the depth and flexibility that good therapy requires.

Caseloads run 20–25 active clients. That’s intentional. We’d rather you do excellent work with a manageable number of clients than adequate work with too many.

How we invest in your clinical growth

Experienced clinicians don’t need hand-holding, but they do need supervision that’s substantive, peers they can think out loud with, and an organization that actively supports their development. Here’s what that looks like at Idaho Youth Ranch.

Regular Clinical Supervision

Supervision is scheduled, consistent, and led by clinical supervisors with real experience in the populations you’re serving. It’s not a checkbox; it’s a genuine space to work through complex cases, sharpen your thinking, and grow as a clinician.

Peer Consultation

You’ll have structured access to peer consultation with fellow therapists. The outpatient team is small enough that colleagues know each other’s work and large enough that you’re not carrying complexity alone.

Paid Training & Continuing Education

Idaho Youth Ranch covers the cost of continuing education, including CEUs required for licensure maintenance. We also invest in modality-specific training; if you’re building skills in EMDR, DBT, or TF-CBT, there’s organizational support for that, not just an expectation that you’ll figure it out on your own time.

Licensure Support

For clinicians working toward LCSW or LPC licensure, Idaho Youth Ranch provides the supervision structure you need. We’re invested in your professional trajectory, not just your current role.

Your team and your clients

The Clients

Outpatient clients at Idaho Youth Ranch are primarily youth (children, adolescents, and young adults) along with their families. Many have experienced trauma, adverse childhood experiences, or significant family instability. Some are referred through schools, courts, or child welfare systems. Others come through self or family referral. The range of presentations is broad, which keeps the clinical work genuinely interesting.

The Team

You’ll work within a clinical team that includes fellow therapists, clinical supervisors, and case managers. The outpatient setting at Idaho Youth Ranch isn’t siloed; there’s real collaboration across the team, regular case consultation, and leadership that’s accessible when you need them.

Depending on your clients’ needs, you may also coordinate with school counselors, pediatricians, psychiatrists, and child welfare professionals. Idaho Youth Ranch’s established relationships in the communities we serve make those connections easier to navigate.

The Locations

Outpatient therapy positions are based in Boise and Coeur d’Alene, two of Idaho’s most dynamic communities, each with its own character. Both locations are embedded in the communities they serve, not isolated clinical environments.
