Our Process

What to Expect

Starting therapy can feel daunting — especially when your family is already stretched thin. Here’s what actually happens when you reach out to us.

You reach out

Contact us by phone or through our online form. A member of our intake team will get back to you — a real person, not an automated system — to answer your questions and walk you through what to expect.

01

We complete an intake

02

Your family will go through an intake process to help us understand your child’s history, current challenges, and goals. This helps us match your child with the therapist who is the best fit for their needs.

You meet your therapist

The first few sessions are about building trust and getting to know your child. Our therapists are masters-educated and trained with specialized experience in youth and adolescent mental health.

03

We build a plan together

Our Clinical Supervisor will work with your therapist to develop an individualized treatment plan. As a parent or caregiver you are an important part of the healing process — because healing doesn’t happen in isolation.

04

We adjust as your child grows

Treatment plans evolve. We regularly review progress and adjust the approach based on what’s working. Our goal is for every young person to leave our care stronger and more resilient than when they arrived.

04

Sessions

Most clients attend one to two sessions per week. Frequency is adjusted based on individual needs and progress.

Individual and family sessions are approximately 50 minutes.

Worried about cost?

We believe cost should never be the reason ayoung person doesn’t get the support they need. We work with families to makecare as accessible as possible.

We accept Idaho Medicaid.

We are in-network with many private insuranceproviders. Call us to verify your coverage before your first appointment.

Ask About Insurance

No referral is required —  families can reach out to us directly. We also accept referrals from schools,  pediatricians, courts, and other community providers.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions

Is my child a good fit for it?

Virtual Therapy works well when distance, transportation, or busy schedules make regular in-person visits hard. It may be less suited to a child who has trouble focusing on a screen, needs a more hands-on setting, or is facing a higher level of need. We will help you sort out the right fit, and we can adjust if virtual turns out not to be working.

Is it private and secure?

Sessions take place over a secure, private video platform, not a public app, and the same confidentiality protections that apply to in-person therapy apply here. We also suggest your child use headphones in a room where they will not be overheard, so they can speak openly.

Does my child have to be in Idaho during sessions?

Yes. Because our therapists are licensed in Idaho, your child generally needs to be physically in Idaho during sessions, even virtual ones. If travel is coming up, let your therapist know so you can plan around it.

What do we need to get started?

Not much: a device with a camera and microphone, a reliable internet connection, and a private, quiet spot where your child can talk freely. We will send simple joining instructions before the first session.

Is Virtual Therapy as effective as meeting in person?

For many young people, yes. Video-based therapy is well supported for a wide range of concerns, and some kids open up more easily from a space that already feels safe. It is not the right fit for everyone, though, and at intake we will talk honestly with you about whether virtual, in-person, or a mix makes the most sense.

What is Virtual Therapy?

Virtual Therapy is the same outpatient counseling we offer in person, delivered over a secure video connection so your child can meet with their therapist from home. Sessions are led by the same kind of licensed, masters-level therapists and address the same concerns. The main difference is simply where it happens.
