As a Ranch Maintenance Specialist you will be responsible to assist the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor with general repairs and maintenance necessary to ensure safe and effective operating  conditions at our Treasure Valley Ranch Campus. You will be required to have skills and experience with carpentry, construction , general facility maintenance, light mechanics, general landscaping maintenance and repair, general electric systems.


  • Evaluates physical, mechanical and structural aspects of facilities to ensure to safe operation.

  • Performs preventive and emergency building repairs and maintenance.

  • Assists with the development and implementation of agency facility maintenance policies and procedures.

  • Performs rough and finish carpentry and related construction work as needed.

  • Mowing of lawns and other landscaped areas using specialized industrial mowing equipment.

  • Tree maintenance and removal as needed.

  • Weed abatement and removal as needed.

  • All general landscaping including irrigation system repairs, chemical insecticide/herbicide application, and fertilizer application.

  • Maintains and services mowing and other landscaping equipment on a scheduled basis.

  • Provides and attends training sessions as directed.

  • Creates reports as directed on maintenance and construction projects.

  • Responds to emergency calls from Facilities Maintenance Supervisor as needed.

Must Haves

  • Technical, trade certification/degree equivalent to a bachelors degree.

  • Three years experience performing skilled repair and maintenance in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, building maintenance, and grounds related work; using specialized tools and equipment associated with trades indicated.

  • Experience interpreting architectural, structural, plumbing, and electrical diagrams, and plans and specifications.

  • Experience interpreting technical codes and ordinances.

  • Experience evaluating facilities to determine construction and modification needs.

  • Experience analyzing energy use and developing cost saving measures.

  • Experience developing maintenance programs for buildings and related systems.

  • Experience preparing construction reports and maintaining related records.

  • Ability to take initiative, organize and handle multiple, complex tasks at the same time.

  • Ability to work independently and productively without direct supervision.

  • Ability to direct youth and volunteers in the performance of maintenance and construction work.

  • Ability to use a computer for word processing, and spread sheet applications (e.g., familiarity with such software as Microsoft Word and Excel).

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, including hot and cold environments regularly.

  • Most work is completed utilizing typical trade tools such as: hammer, saw, power tools, landscaping equipment, agricultural equipment etc.

  • Must be able to accurately discern colors.

  • Capable of lifting at least 90 pounds.

  • Climb and work from ladders.

  • Bend, stoop, and work around wood dust and fumes.

  • Drive for long periods of time.

  • May occasionally work evenings or weekends on special projects or in response to facility emergencies.

  • Valid state issued driver’s license
