FACT SHEET

Our progams are guided by 3 core principles:
  1. To help children and families now, before problems become worse. We target those families who don’t qualify for government funded care and cannot afford the full cost of services;
  2. To provide comprehensive services that treat the whole child and family; and
  3. To provide the necessary long-term support that children and families need to be successful. We call this “Finishing the job.”

Most children being helped by the Idaho Youth Ranch are self-referred. All self-referred families pay what they can afford based on family income. No child is turned away because of the family’s inability to pay the entire cost of services.

We help children who are experiencing multiple challenges including:
  • Abuse
  • Mental illness
  • Poor school performance
  • Family conflict
  • Getting into trouble in the community
  • Substance abuse
  • Hard to control behavior

All programs have specific acceptance criteria. read on...

We provide a range of services:
  • Long-term care at our Ranch outside of Rupert. The Ranch is a state-wide resource;
  • Crisis Shelter at Hays Shelter Home in Boise;
  • Substance abuse treatment at Anchor House in Coeur d’Alene. Anchor House is a state-wide resource;
  • Family counseling in southwest and north Idaho. Trained family counselors provide counseling either in the home (preferred) or in an office setting;
  • Reintegration services for children receiving care at our Ranch;
  • Adoption services in north Idaho.
  • In addition, and depending on the program the following services are also offered:
    • Alternative education
    • Independent living preparation
    • Job training

WE ARE PROUD OF OUR SUCCESS RATES

We measure how well children and families do while receiving services and for up to one year after services have ended. Multiple indicators are used including: sobriety, educational progress, family functioning, child behavior, the presence of positive supports, as well as child, family, and referral source satisfaction.

Annual Report

FUNDING FOR IDAHO YOUTH RANCH PROGRAMS

The majority of funding for IYR programs and services come from generous donors and revenue from our thrift stores. Other funding comes from contracts, grants and foundations, and fees-for-services. The agency Annual Report provides more detailed information on agency revenue and expenses.

The Nagel Center, located in Boise, is the home to our main distribution center, administrative offices and our family counseling office serving south-western Idaho.
